Julie Varley’s certificate

Bradford-born Julie Varley started work in a Bradford mill aged 12 in 1883. She devoted her life to trade unions, receiving an OBE for her work in 1931. A dedicated suffragette, she raided the House of Commons and was arrested twice. She was presented with this certificate for her dedication to the women’s suffrage campaign.
