Emily Bronte christening mug

This white china mug is believed to have been presented to Emily Brontë at her christening, which took place on 20 August 1818. Emily (1818-1848), along with her famous siblings, was born at the parsonage on Market Street in Thornton. She was christened at the Old Bell Chapel nearby, where her father served as perpetual curate. The mug is now part of the collection at the Brontë Parsonage Museum in Haworth, which became home to the Brontë family following their move from Thornton in 1820.
