Sunset over Robert’s Park

Sunsets over Roberts Park in Shipley are often quite spectacular and here we have a fine example, proving that even during Lockdown there can be beauty. In Edwardian times this stretch of the River Aire was used for boating and it’s not hard to imagine families floating by in their buttoned up Sunday best. Today it’s reserved for the ducks who seem to use the river bank as a sort of community centre where they can squabble and make a bit of a racket. Roberts Park is a haven for anyone who wants exercise and fresh air – even in these chilly winter days of first frosts and late afternoon sunsets.
